Indianapolis is home to numerous cultural, outdoor and kid-friendly events, many of which are connected by the beautiful Canal Walk that winds through downtown.  Information about individual area attractions can be found below. 

The city also offers a White River State Park Pass good for one-time admission to six different attractions, including the Eiteljorg Museum, IMAX Theater, Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis Indians, Indianapolis Zoo and NCAA Hall of Champions. This ticket is priced at $40.50 for adults and $29.50 for children ages 3-12.  

Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

Billed as the largest children's museum in the world, the five-story Children’s Museum of Indianapolis encourages children to dig in and touch everything as they explore the physical and natural sciences, history, world cultures and the arts through exciting interactive exhibits.  The facility also includes a planetarium and theater providing children’s plays and live entertainment.

Indianapolis Zoo

Home to over 2,000 animals and Indiana's largest aquarium, this 64-acre zoo has lions, elephants and other wild animals roaming through natural settings. A special petting area allows children to touch, but not feed, the tamer animals. There's also the world's largest enclosed dolphin show and a roller-coaster for kids all ages.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Hall of Fame Museum

The Indy Speedway, dating back to 1909, is one of the most famous car raceways in the world. Even if you can't join the crowd of 400,000 that comes each May to watch the celebrated Indy 500, stop by for a minibus ride on the speedway. Then visit the museum that traces race car history, including a display of restored speed demons, starting with the first Indy winner in 1911.

Eiteljorg Museum Of American Indians and Western Art

The Eiteljorg Museum is one of only two museums east of the Mississippi River that showcase both Native American and Western art, culture and history. The museum contains both Native American and Western art collections, including traditional and contemporary work by artists such as T.C. Cannon, N. C. Wyeth, Andy Warhol, Georgia O’Keeffe, Allan Houser, Frederic Remington, Charles Russell and Kay WalkingStick.

Indianapolis Museum of Art

The Indianapolis Museum of Art is among the largest and oldest general art museums in the United States. Permanent offerings include the Eli Lilly Collection of Chinese Art, an exhibit on African Textiles and a collection of works by Indiana artists.

Indianapolis Symphony

From March 27th -  March 29th, the Indianapolis Symphony will present Cirque de la Symphone, an action-packed show featuring aerial  flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, balancers and strongmen.  Their daring feats will be choreographed in sync with ethereal and awe-inspiring symphonic music.

White River State Park

As America’s only urban cultural state park, White River State Park serves as a diverse resource through the preservation of greenspace, waterways and nature.  The park is also home to numerous educational, cultural and entertainment programs designed to benefit the surrounding community.  A complete Event Calendar is available online.

Fort Harrison State Park

This 1700-acre park is full of activities and history, including a former World War II prisoner-of-war camp. Recreation includes fishing, bicycle trails, walking and jogging trails, horse trail rides and hayrides, picnicking and a nature center. Knowledgeable naturalists are on-hand to answer your questions and offer guided hikes and talks.
