- Travel Information -

Arriving By Plane
The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is approximately 15 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, including the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis. The airport is served by the 11 airlines listed below, with nearly 200 flights per day to major U.S. destinations.

Please note that the airport will open a new terminal on November 12, 2008, with all service ceasing at the original location of 2500 South High School Road (intersection of High School Road & Sam Jones Expressway).  This transition will not affect the travel plans of Joint Council attendees, with the exception of offering brand-new dining and shopping options for those flying into the city.  Guests who have previously flown into Indianapolis should also note the change.

More information can be found on the Indianapolis Airport website or through the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association.

Public Transportation To the Hotel

Taxi rides from the airport to the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis will take about 15 minutes and cost approximately $20.  Cabs are typically available or can be quickly called via call buttons located outside the terminal.

Attendees may also arrange private or shared transportation via Carey Indiana chauffer services, which offers an $11 Share-A-Ride Limousine service to and from the airport.  Full information, including surcharges and cancellation policies, may be found on the Carey Indiana website or by calling 800-888-INDY(4639).  Attendees may also use the attached coupon worth $1 off Carey’s regular rates.

The IndyGo bus system also offers a $7 one-way trip to and from the airport. Buses operate every 20 minutes from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Guests staying at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis should exit at the Washington and Illinois stop, located across the street from the hotel.  Passengers may pay by credit card, cash (exact fare only) or purchase single ride passes in advance on the IndyGo website or by calling (317) 635-3344.

Arriving By Car

According to the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association, more than 50 percent of the U.S. population can drive to Indianapolis in less than one day.  In fact, Indy is referred to as the "Crossroads of America” because it is intersected by more segments of interstate and U.S. highways than any other metro area – including access to  highways I-69, I-70, I-74, I-65, I-465, I-865, US 40 and State Roads 37, 67, 36, 136, 421, 135, 31, 431 and 52. The Indianapolis International Airport is easily accessible from I-70 and I-465 on the city's southwest side.

The website for the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis also features driving directions from numerous Midwest cities including Chicago, IL; Fort Wayne, IN; Columbus, OH and more.  Complete directions may be found on the hotel’s website
