Dr. Joseph Crumbley

Information on Dr. Crumbley:

Dr. Crumbley received his Masters and Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. He is in private practice as a consultant and family therapist.

His areas of specialization include pre and post adoptive therapy, chemical dependency, couples therapy, physical and sexual abuse. His consultative services include case consultation, training, grantsmanship, program evaluation and organizational development. His most recent areas of concentration have been kinship care and transracial adoptions.

In the area of transracial adoptions, he has been a consultant to Los Angeles County Children and Youth Services, the New Jersey Adoption Resource Centers, the Black Adoption Consortium and the Pennsylvania Legislative Task Force on the Multi-Ethnic Placement Act. Presentations and workshops on transracial adoptions have included: The 1992, '93, '94, '96, '97 and '99 North Amercian Conference on Adoptable Children (NACAC), The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) 1994 and 1995 Conferences on Minority Children, Harvard's Medical School of Psychiatry and the Montel Williams Show on Transracial Adoptions.

In the area of kinship care, he has been a consultant to the Los Angeles Kinship Care Program, the Child Welfare Institute, the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA), the Spaulding Center and the Philadelphia Society's Kinship Care Program. Presentations have included: The Los Angeles County Kinship Care Conference, the National Association of Foster Parents Conference, DHHS Fourth Annual Child Welfare Conference, CWLA Kinship Care Conference and the Montel Williams Show on Kinship Care.

Dr. Crumbley has co-authored a book with Mr. Robert Little entitled Kinship Care: Relatives Raising Children published by the Child Welfare League of America. This book has been a best seller for the past two years. He has also completed a series of training tapes for parents and professionals on Kinship Care and Transracial adoptions. Dr Crumbley completed his second book entitled Transracial Adoption and Foster Care,also published by the Child Welfare League of America.
